I am a mom of two.  Today I have four children in my house five and under.  By some miracle, they are all horizontal and sleeping (except for Adam who is SURE Rochelle will wake up and he will miss out on some fun so I’m sure he’s peeping) at the same time.  So tell me, do I sit down and breathe?  Race to put laundry away?  Finish the phone conversation that got interrupted three times this morning?  Or start thinking about supper?

@Byersbunch – I fixed a HUGE glass of iced tea w/ a generous slice of lemon and picked up the phone to finish my conversation w/ Christy.  Then I realized I had a problem.  Four children scattered through the house sleeping, now where do I go that I don’t wake any of them?  So I got to hang out in the bathroom!

Isn’t it kind of fun to see what it would be like to have that many kids? The last time I kept John’s brother’s children I had five children four and under. It was doable, but I told John that now I know why we want to space our children more than a year apart. And doesn’t it feel like an amazing accomplishment to have them all napping at one time?

I was going to say what RallyJan said. I had 4 children in 5 yrs and 9months so I can remember when all of my days are like what you were asking about. Some days I rested. Some days I worked. Some days I made phone calls. Some days I cried. πŸ™‚ I like the stage we’re in now. πŸ™‚

A grandmother writes…  I had 3 children in 3 years (4,5,6 came later) and now two of our 3 children had their own 4 children by the age of  5.  I remember the days of taking a nap with one eye shut and the other eye watching my babies.  I lay on the couch and let them play on the living room floor while I dozed, never too far off in dreamland though so I could hear their noise and would open my eyes from time to time to “check on them”.   I really wouldn’t have wanted my children too far apart.  They can grow up together, go to youth together, get married together and give us grandchildren together.  We have 11 grands under the age of 7 and they love playing together as cousins…. just had the whole tribe here for a couple days and I loved their chatter.  It is music to my ears.
