Saturday night we had a lovely, cool, misty, dark evening.   Just perfect for candles in the windows and steaming mugs of hot chocolate.  I can’t wait for the holidays!

At home we (almost) always had pizza and Coke for supper on Saturday nights.  David Lee’s family often grilled something.  I thought we’d do some of both; but more often then not, we grill.  It’s his day off so it’s easier for him to get the grill started earlier.  My favorite is when he puts a whole chicken (coated in olive oil and six pepper blend) on the rotisserie and I get to smell it for several hours.  Saturday he did a pork tenderloin marinated in a coconut milk concoction and rolled in nuts served with a pineapple salsa on the side.  In my non-pregnant body I think I would have ranted and raved.  As it was, it got “pretty good” marks.

My aunt Dorothy just called to see if David Lee could grill the ribs at my cousin’s wedding in December.  My mouth is already watering.

Do you have a Saturday night tradition?

Yep. Pizza and ice cream. Usually the pizza is homemade, and come winter, the ice cream will be homemade too. 🙂 I just got a tub for our ice cream freezer, which was the last part we needed to complete the deal. Now, we will try to put all the assorted collected parts together and see if we can get the conglomeration to work as it should. I have two strong boys, I guess I should just make them crank the stuff by hand the way I used to have to. Oh, I hated it so much that I disliked homemade ice cream for a long time. LOL Well, so much for travelling down memory’s lane… hope you have a good week ahead.

Growing up, we didn’t, and I don’t think that my husband’s family did, either.  We’ve started our own—pizza!  Sometimes homemade, sometimes picked up in town by my husband on his way home from work, sometimes Pizza Hut…just depends.  But almost always with Ranch dressing to dip it in — not sure how that got started, but we all love it.  Every now & then we vote for hoagies from our favorite deli instead, but pizza usually wins out.  I love little family traditions!

Oh wow, I was so distracted by the Christmas CD at the top of your post that the rest flew over my head. You must be a fellow Christmas music lover. My husband is making me wait until the day after Thanksgiving to pull our CDs out, but it’s hard to abstain with Christmas coming this early (to the stores at least). No, we don’t have a Saturday night tradition, but we do have a Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving tradition.

Not officially. We often had pizza and ice cream… But we did have the tradition of popcorn on a Sunday afternoon/evening. I miss that sometimes. Real popcorn, not microwave!

David Lee grills, and you want ME to cook for you? No comprendo….

Everybody, I mean everybody, has pizza.  In my present cynical mood, I declare that if I ever have a house to in which to have a Saturday night tradition, I shall make that it’s not pizza for that reason alone.

I guess you do grill.  Sometimes. When you don’t have pizza.

Perhaps.  Or perhaps I shall do whatever I jolly well please.  Perhaps that will be my tradition.  I think you should clonk me one good over the head for being such a kill-joy.

The atmosphere in this house this evening has been less than mood lifting.

Perhaps I’ll post on something very positive. But only perhaps. I should have to find something positive first.

I’m sorry.  I’m repenting right now for my horrendous mood. Forgive?

Homemade pizza, salad, chips & coke, Dr Pepper, etc. was the tradition growing up & now that I am married I continued it, just don’t always get the salad made. =) I think traditions like that are fun. Glad to see someone else enjoying Christmas music already. I’ve had it playing about a week or two now. Sometimes i pull it out in July cause I love it so much. =)

Yea! I love traditions. I am trying to start some traditions at our house- like pizza on Saturday, homemade cinnamon rolls for Sunday morning, popcorn and ice cream on Sunday night.

I do believe you are married to a gorgeous chef! OOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPSSSSSSSSSSS- I mean gourmet chef.

Ummm, I’m prejudiced. I can get away with that one, right?

I usually make soup…potatoe or taco.  Sounds kind of boring. Friday nites we often have pizza, but I might have to change that because Brayden wants pizza for his lunch and of course, there is never any left until Monday. Saturday nites we usually went and did our shopping.  Now the kids are getting bigger and so I feel like I can handle it through the week and we don;t as much. I miss it kind of…

Our Satruday night tradition is often more like, “Are you hungry?”

“No, not really.  Just something small would be good.”
    “LIke nachos or something?”

    “Yeah, tht sounds good.”

I always think it would be cool to have the Sat. night pizza.  One of these days I might get back into my food routine again.

I wonder what would happen if your chef and mine would get together? They would probably talk food for hours!

No, we don’t have any meal traditions but I’ve often thought about it. Since baby is growing more mature, lol, I have more time to plan decent meals again.

We usually do pizza Friday or Saturday night….depends on our plans for the week. I wish I was one of those people who could think of exciting new traditions for our family but I’m not!

We don’t really have a saturday tradition, but we do like to have breakfast for supper a couple times a month. I fix the whole spread: waffles, eggs, fruit, bacon or sausage. And off course we top it all off with pure maple syrup or apple butter:::)
