Adam hates to clear the dishwasher. He can poke and poke and poke and poke around. If I don’t stay after him, it can take him over thirty minutes.

Every time a new job has become his responsibility, he dislikes it fiercely until he becomes good at it and then suddenly it’s old hat and he doesn’t complain, just gets it done. Somehow the dishwasher dislike has seemed to get worse instead of better. He’s become a master of getting Liam enthused about the job (yes, manipulation happening already) and coaches him patiently through putting away silverware and pots and pans. But then the job takes an hour.

Today David told him it’s time to clear the dishwasher and he is setting the timer for ten minutes. I’ve tried this trick myself and it usually only generates more complaining. Today he somehow realized David meant business and flew toward the dishwasher and started throwing things into drawers. About three minutes into the game he said with surprise, “Mommy, this goes really quickly when I hurry.”

Hmmm, is it a “boy thing”, this hatred for emptying the dishwasher??   Ah, and the manipulation thing?—that happens here, too!  It’s gotten so bad, they think that they just CAN’T empty the dishwasher if Ariana’s taking a nap!

Sounds a lot like someone else I know!  I think sometimes he truly is amazed at how quickly he CAN do something if he sets his mind to it….AND DOESN”T GET DISTRACTED!!

I just thought about it that I saw on fb that vonnie was there.  Did she do a CM digi demonstration?  That sounds like fun!!

Funny, funny, funny. I think I need his words of wisdom myself. Clearing the drainer/dishwasher is one of my least favorite jobs. Don’t ask me why. I think because I just want to get those dirty dishes out of the way, but oh bother, I have to clear the drainer first. My hubby doesn’t mind doing it, so I’m happy if he clears and I wash. He doesn’t like washing, so we work well together.

Actually we were doing a big crop day and there were 11 of us SO looking forward to it. Then we got snowed out. πŸ™ Or in. Whatever. πŸ™‚ 3 of the girls who live close to me came here and David drove Vonnie’s van here so at least a few of us got to scrapbook. But the ones of us who were here are all die hard traditional scrapbookers so her digital presentation didn’t happen.

May I just say, Adam is SUCH a cute little guy!  Yeah, sometimes it is just a change of tactics somehow that gets them going.  Or the reward thing can sometimes work too.  Like, hey, if you get that done in 10 minutes, I’ll read a book to you.
