a taste of Spring 2007

Why is it that we can have a relatively mild winter and then when it’s the end of February and we are all dreaming of Spring just around the corner, it turns cold?  All I really want is to thaw from the inside out.  I want to look out the window and not shiver at a barren, whithered landscape.  I want to walk out the lane and exclaim over new green leaf buds on the butterfly bushes I planted last fall.  I want to get into the car without dragging along another ten pounds and three square feet of bulky coat.  I want to sit through church without shivering.  I want to get out of the shower without shivering.  I want to think subs instead of soup.  I want to see vibrant green grass and blue skies and yellow daffodils and pink tulips.  I want to see the windows open and hear the birds sing.  I want to walk barefoot in the garden and drop seeds into the ground.

Instead we had snow flurries yesterday and there is ice predicted for tomorrow.  And so I’m looking at pictures from last Spring and thinking about doing some sewing.  To whoever said, “If winter comes, can Spring be far behind?”  The answer is yes.

I’m definately with you~! I have been COLD all day.  And I had to stop at the grocery store and they didn’t have everything I needed, so I went to Dollar General and they didn’t either… and so I froze once again and tried Alco… no luck.  Nappanee needs an Office Max.  And the stores need some heat. Brhhh…

I sympathize with you, dear. I too am ready for spring. We have two feet of snow on the ground as well as some ice.. to top it all off, the temperature has not gotten above zero today yet.

I would like a chance to talk with Al Gore about global warming. Obviously he has not been to Iowa lately.

well, I’m sorry for you ladies. I happen to live in southern TN where snow is a serious novelty! if it snows at our house the kids go ballistic!!!

I would still rather have the snow, than rain and MUD all winter!

oh, well, I guess we take it like it comes… and hope and pray for spring!

If you would come to see my sorting, cleaning, organizing, revamping activities you would probably hope for a few more weeks of winter “to let mom get done”. I am afraid the warm breezes would tease me into stashing and storing till next winter. Trying to beat the warmer temperatures, it is the first year I am not ready for winter to melt into spring. Give me another month…

Do you know why I lose my ocean layout? I would be happy if you could fix it-come to think of it; if you can’t, I’ll be happy too.
