There are three million things tumbling around in my brain wanting to get out. I have about half that many things I should be doing. I wish blogging were higher on the “have to be done” list instead of the “wish I could do” list. I’m using my “set the timer” discipline trick for Adam on myself and this is messing around. Oops. Don’t tell him.
Life is returning to a semi-normal state around here. No one would know that judging by the piles of papers and books and pictures surrounding me; but my brain knows. It feels good. Next week is going to feel twenty pounds better.
Here’s the extremely abbreviated version (long version may or may not happen because life goes on):
Thanksgiving was a riot (literally on some days)
My books came. At least 100 of them went back out the door today and I’m working on the next batch.
We all came home with varying degrees of illness. Liam is the sickest. I hope today was the worst day.
Friday night we are hosting Edenali’s Christmas banquet here at our house. Someone’s got some cleaning to do before then.
The 9th law of parenting is that just when you find the perfect Christmas gift for your child who is obsessed with being a fireman, he will switch allegiance to science and declare himself an astronaut. Today we went to visit the firestation to drum up some energy for the dying dream.
And just because I’m on a long over-due organization kick I’m going to link my current favorite planner. Last week when I was making the turkey I ran out of salt. Does it get any lower then that? Proof that I really have been in overdrive for too long and quickly becoming inadequate in a lot of necessary areas. I really, really like this planner. Everything goes in there. Menus, appointments, to do lists, birthdays … if it’s not in there, I forget it.
********************************************************************************
I think the timers about to go and I am not done with the jobs I was supposed to be doing while I’m sitting here…. please don’t tell Adam.
WHY are the linkies not working? Must be the 9th law of blogging. I guess you will have to copy and paste the oldfashioned way to find that planner.

That is too funny about the dying dream of the fireman:). I have had some kids switching their wish list several times a day… and its getting old fast.!
um, for some reason your links aren’t working…
Thanksgiving… how can we ever say thanks for all you did for our family this weekend? Maybe there IS something to this Southern hospitality thing I hear about. We are grateful, and hopefully someday we’ll have the privilege of sharing the same way with you.
I hope you get those three million things done, and I’m sure your Edenali banquet will be superb!
I have wondered already about the kids changing dreams and deciding what they want…are we the same with God? Oh God, I want to be a mother…I want a handsome prince to sweep me away…then OH God, I don’t want this many kids, I didn’t what my prince to have this kind of job…dah dah. Anyway….off track there. 😉
The banquet sounds exciting and stressful all together.
The books must be a lot of work! Finally sending my check out in the morning…sigh thats my life, always a week or two behind.
Oh what we hide from the kids! 🙂
thats funny- I ran out of salt cooking sunday dinner:)… not a good thing, thankfully the shaker had enough to hold me over- (guess I didn’t technically run out then, right? close enough though!) glad your life is a little more normal. hope little man is feeling much better…! I still need to send off my check—
Good to see you again Michelle, Your energy astounds me 🙂 I thought you were a great mom to take your boys to the fire station.. hope it revives the dream enough to get you through Christmas 🙂
Have fun on Friday night. Wish I could offer my daughter’s help , but she is off to sunny Florida, as you know 🙂 Blessings!
Yeah, just when you think you have your kids figured out…they decide to switch on you! Don’t they know they’re not allowed to do that! Christmas presents have already been bought! I have never been able to find a planner that I liked…it always seems to me so much work to put everything INTO the planner. But maybe one day I’ll figure it out. In the meantime, I bumble along with my own system, which is somewhat flawed. I hope two of the books that went out were mine!
@appalolly –
they were! I made sure your’s were at the top of the list to go out. I hope they get there in time.

Fun to see you, too. I wished it wouldn’t have been so hurried. You should come over sometime. Hey, I have an idea. You and Mom should both come for lunch sometime next week or something then you could get your books, too. I got to talk to Cora on Sunday — too bad she isn’t here all week. What say?
Yeah, I sneak around behind my children’s backs too. The things we never knew about our parents\”/
My check is still waiting on me….grrr!
Maybe I should set the timer some day and see what all I get done. =)
I never dreamt Adam would change his mind about being a fireman!!
Next time I come to visit, I’ll make a list of all the things not forget to leave or take. 😀 BTW, not trying to steal your thunder w/ my post. And also, that’s no fair if you have Kim over when I’m not there!
@twofus_1 –
Post? Did you post? Can’t wait to read it. Oh, and I just found a pr of Zachary’s socks in the toybox. 🙂
I bought 4 of the planners, I’m waiting for them to arrive!! Thanks for the Suggestion, I added her link to my website, http://www.amommymadeit.com We are suppose to have the store up this weeK , the web designer was in the hospital.
Timer? Maybe that would work. When i have jobs i don’t want to do, i can find so many other things that need my attention first. 🙁 …like reading your very funny post.
