It isn’t any bride’s dream to wake the morning of her wedding to the sound of rain pummeling the roof. But a little {or a lot} of rain wasn’t going to stop these two from turning a September Saturday into their fairytale!
After weighing the options and checking the radar … choose a rain location or wait for it to stop and only have a few minutes in the gorgeous location they’d chosen weeks ago … Amber and Leighton decided to wait. Amazingly, the rain stopped! At least for a little!
Precious few minutes and dark grey skies, but their smiles lit the morning with so much joy!
It sprinkled a little by the time we were taking bridal party pictures and we were barely all tucked into vehicles before the rain started pouring out of the sky!
Their ceremony was lovely with both father’s taking part speaking and officiating their marriage vows.
Thankfully, the rain stopped again and the skies lightened a bit! The reception was held in a huge white tent in a grassy pasture behind the church.
People meandered down the path, grabbed a darling little bag of pretzels, and chatted with friends.
Amber spent a lot of time creating fun details from the hand -painted signs along the path, to the little pretzel bags, to the hair bows and bow ties for the nieces, nephews, and her little brothers.
Leighton & Amber also built the gorgeous walnut farmhouse table they used at the reception. Seriously, how talented are they?!!!!
The reception was a relaxed affair with pork barbecue, pasta salad, potato chips, and pecan, raspberry, and strawberry pie.
And they’re off!
Congratulations, you two!
