Darrel & Joanna | Family
These annual sessions are something I look forward to a lot! We’ve started brainstorming together about how to incorporate fun into their sessions. One year we explored a tunnel and ended with a cookout. Another year we visited the Frontier Culture Museum and stumbled on an outdoor concert after our pictures. Last year we visited Monticello and this year we ended with a visit to a coffee shop!
The coffee shop finale was perfection! Twinkly lights, coffee beans freshly roasted on site, beautiful latte art …. I mean you really can’t go wrong with that!
And when I asked Darrel and Jo to lean in for a kiss they started laughing. The kids had just been saying they escaped the kissing pictures this year. Sorry not sorry, kids! You know you’re secretly so glad your mom and dad are wildly in love with each other!
Until next year, guys!
Cameron & Samantha | Engaged
Life felt perfect last fall as Cameron and Samantha celebrated their engagement and dreamed of winter months flying by in a whirlwind of wedding planning and house remodel.
Their wedding plans got quarantined, but love is unstoppable! What doesn’t break us makes us stronger, so they say. These two have learned how to love, really love. They’ve learned how to communicate well and to take what is handed to them and turn it into something beautiful.
But most of all, they learned how to trust God and believe what He is showing them even when it doesn’t make sense. I can’t think of a better foundation for a marriage than that.
Congratulations, you two! I hope you are celebrated in ways bigger than you can imagine!
Lyndon & Lindsey
Lyn and Lin. One look at their names and you know they’ve been destined to belong together from the beginning! Seriously, though, the love and happiness that radiates from these two when they’re together is contagious!
I was so excited when Lindsey told me her first choice is a greenhouse and instantly knew exactly which location I wanted. Milmont Greenhouses is absolutely stunning with beautiful displays of foilage and flowers. Pure loveliness!
So many pretty details in Lindsey’s dress!
A good marriage is made up of so many things … love, committment, butterflies. It’s also full of friendship, laughter, and having fun together and Lyndon & Lindsey know how to do that well!
Lindsey wanted a second location and when I gave her a few local options she chose the mountains for a completely different but equally beautiful look. I’ve always wanted to do a photo session at Ravens Roost and it did not disappoint! The Blue Ridge mountains are beautiful in every season. Watching the sun drop behind lush green mountains in the spring is simply breathtaking!
They’re each other’s favorite adventure, no doubt about it!
May your love always be as magical as a mountain sunset!
Baby Marco
This sweet boy celebrated a whole year of life!
Wispy blonde hair, chubby little legs, and blueberry eyes … he’s a classic!
He’s a little explorer and isn’t letting any grass grow under his feet. Quite literally! A few days before his birthday he took off with ten steps. Not just two or three. Ten. A bit of overachiever in his blood, don’t you think?
There’s just something about a boy and his mama.

Austin & Liz
It’s spring and unlike what the Christmas songs think, truly the most wonderful time of the year! So wonderful, in fact, that Austin and Liz enjoyed 74 degrees and sunshine on Friday as they took their pictures and then celebrated their Saturday wedding amid an all day snow! Who knew April 7th could mean snowflakes?!!!
Liz was absolutely radiant!
We took photos at an absolutely stunning private residence. Gorgeous stone reflected the lovely sunshine creating warmth and beauty. It’s a home that is truly a work of art and a perfect backdrop for photos. The generosity of it’s owner and designer is a gift the world needs more of today. When I thanked her again for being so gracious with her home she waved and said, “I’ve had my dream come true, now I get to see others’ realize their dreams.”
Liz chose vibrant colors for her bouquet and the dresses for her bridesmaids! They exuded the happiness of a spring wedding!
I love seeing the tiny details in a wedding. They’re so reflective of a bride’s personality and taste.
This lovely groomsmen photo was taken by Jessica. Almost always, my husband, David, is my second shooter at a wedding. Jessica did a phenomenal job of capturing the day!
Congratulations, Austin & Liz. May your marriage always be as warm as the sunshine on a perfect day in April.
Baby Eden
The preciousness of a newborn is never lost on me. In a world where life is sometimes taken for granted, I can’t forget that two of my babies never made it to this point. Those chubby cheeks and tiny waving hands? They are a miracle in front of our eyes!
I love to watch siblings with a new baby! They’re so enchanted and loving!
Baby Eden, you are so very loved!
